CODEPENDENT

13th – 17th August 2014

PRIVATE VIEW: 12TH August 7- 9pm

ROBBIE EUNSON | DEBORAH

Codependent is an exhibition of new work by two artists who, whilst approaching it in very different ways, are concerned with exploring ideas that confront ways of looking. Their work specifically makes use of space to encourage the viewer to take a more engaged role in informing their understanding of the work and look beyond the expectations of medium.

ROBBIE EUNSON

Robbie’s work blurs the line between installation and painting, asking the viewer to consider not just the content of the painting, but their placement within the space along with the objects around them. By thinking about all the elements as a whole, the viewer can piece together the narrative and meaning. References to slapstick and cartoon humour play up and undermine the viewer’s assumptions about the clichés of contemporary art.

DEBORAH

Deborah is primarily interested in the viewer as a participant. Her process involves creating situations that highlight the ever-changing relationship between viewer and artwork. This current series of work additionally explores ideas relating to modern technology and how it affects this relationship and alters perception. The work attempts not to transport audiences elsewhere or immerse, but to reconnect audiences with the physicality of here and now.

This exhibition will include work in black and white as well as colour. Some members incorporate photo-collage in their work.

The original members of the London Photographers’ Network met as students at Morley College London; each has a different style and perspective but share a passion for photography. The Network is open to all photographers working and living in London. It provides an opportunity to discuss recent work in order to give each other moral support, help each other out and have fun.
